Notice of extension of free program to change domestic debit card (ATM card) – Magnetic Card to Chip Card according to VCCS standard

Dear valued customers,

Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Bank (VRB) would like to express our sincere thanks to customers who have accompanied VRB in the past.

Implementing the plan to convert Domestic Debit Card (ATM card) – Magnetic Card to Chip Card according to VCCS standard, VRB is pleased to announce that it continues to extend the FREE program to convert Chip cards for customers until the end of Quarter 1, in 2022.

Please choose one of the three ways below to change your card.

- Method 01: Convert at VRB's Branch/Transaction Office

Customers bring ID card/Passport to register for card exchange at all VRB branches/transaction offices nationwide. A list of VRB's transaction points can be found at here

- Method 02: Register to convert via VRB Customer Care Call Center

Please call Hotline 18006656 (toll free) and provide your ID/Passport, ATM card number from/current account number and the branch/transaction office receiving the card after completing the conversion.

According to the guidance of the State Bank of Vietnam in Document No. 8485/NHNN-TT dated 30/11/2021,Customers can still use the magnetic ATM Card to make transactions at ATM/ POS/ Internet Banking/ Mobile Banking and transaction counters. However, VRB recommends that customers register to change cards as soon as possible because ATM cards that have not been converted in 2021 may be restricted from transactions at ATMs/POSs that only accept Chip cards. In addition, Magnetic Cards have lower security than Chip cards and are affected by the rights of being protected by law and Card Organizations/VRBs when there is a dispute over counterfeit cards.
